Care Instructions: Wool being of natural sheep hair contain lanolin. Lanolin is a natural non toxic stain and odor shield in all raw, wool fiber. It is an integral part of sheep fur as it is needed to block the animals skin from soaking in rain and sweat. Lanolin works as a natural hydrophobic shield at the microscopic level to ensure that bacteria does not get the liquid needed to support the growth of bacteria.
These natural fiber rugs are essentially wool in the raw. They are best washed with soap and water. A rug can be put in the sun, soaked wet with a hose pipe and washed with warm water, hair shampoo or Woolite, and a soft scrubbing brush.
Rinse well with a hose pipe and leave to dry over a railing, a wall, or a garden table. Choose a warm and windy day and your rug will be dry within 24 hours. After washing, the rug may appear a bit yen-yag in texture, but within a few days of walking on it, it will look smooth and new.
